Congratulations to the New NAFED Chair
We are excited to announce that Allen Quirk, a highly respected figure within our CALSAFE community, has been appointed as the new Chair of NAFED. Allen's journey to this prestigious position is a testament to his dedication and contributions to the fire protection industry. His term as Chair will span two years, followed by a one-year ter as past Chair.
Allen's career began in 1981 with Buckeye Fire Equipment, where he quickly distinguished himself in the fire extinguisher sales market. Though not seen as a glamorous field, Allen thrived and remained with Buckeye until 1983.
In 1983, Allen joined Brooks Fire Equipment, a powerhouse in the industry. Over the next 18 years, he excelled in sales and took on roles in training, particularly in Exit and Emergency Lighting. Alongside Bob Mete, who covered the East Coast, Allen traveled the West Coast, imparting his knowledge and expertise.
In 1994, Allen and a group of like-minded professionals laid the foundation for CALSAFE at Maggie's Pub. Since that inaugural meeting, Allen has been a dedicated member of the organization.
Allen joined Pye-Barker in 2001 in their wholesale division. Despite his success, he yearned for a new challenge and when he left Pye-Barker in 2003, he purchased Paraclete Fire and Safety. As an owner, Allen continued to drive growth, participating in OSFM's FE and AES committees and contributing to the CSLB's C-16 test review. Allen has since sold Paraclete Fire and Safety and taken on a collaborative role with the new owners, Rapid Fire Safety and Security.
Allen served as President of CALSAFE from 2014 to 2021, after which he was elected as the Region 6 Director for NAFED. His three-year term culminated in his recent appointment as Chair of NAFED.
From his beginnings to his distinguished career, Allen's achievements are remarkable. During our time working together, Allen has said many things that stick out to me, but none more so than these two quips: "Fire extinguisher sales are not very glamorous," and "you get to join a code-driven industry and the rest is history." As we celebrate his new role as Chair of NAFED, we look forward to witnessing even greater contributions from a true leader in our industry. Please join me in congratulating Allen Quirk on his well-deserved achievements and continued success.
